More about Portrush

Portrush is one of Ireland's great seaside resorts, and home to Royal Portrush Golf Club, the only club outside Great Britain to have hosted golf's Open Championship, in 1951, 2019 and again in 2025. The town grew into a fashionable resort in Victorian times after the railway arrived in 1855.

It has three sandy beaches, the West Strand, East Strand and Whiterocks, backed by dunes, and the long-loved seafront amusements, Barry's, reopened as Curry's Fun Park in 2022. Just offshore lie the Skerries, a scatter of little rocky islets that are an important wildlife habitat.
