More about Craigavon

Craigavon is unusual, a planned "new town" begun in 1965, designed like the modern British new towns of the era with paths that keep people and cars apart and playgrounds dotted through the neighbourhoods. It was built to be a genuinely child-friendly place.

Its centrepiece today is the Craigavon Lakes, two man-made lakes with a watersports centre (and once a dry ski slope) surrounded by woodland walking trails. The park was voted the best in Northern Ireland in 2017.
