Animals and what you will actually see

The paddocks and pens hold deer, pigs, goats and donkeys alongside peacocks, hens, ducks and budgies. There is also a duck pond and a heritage viewing gallery. It is hands-on rather than just look-through-a-fence — younger children can get close enough to properly see the animals, which is the difference between a five-minute distraction and something they talk about on the way home. The animal collection may evolve under new ownership, so treat this as a guide to what the farm offered rather than a fixed list.

Good to know before you go:

Many farms are seasonal and busiest in spring lambing and the school holidays, so it’s worth checking opening times before you travel. These are working livestock farms, so pet dogs usually aren’t allowed (assistance dogs excepted), and a few take cash only — so bring a little with you.

The story

About Sperrin Fun Farm

Sperrin Fun Farm grew up as a family-run farm park on the Glenshane Road near Feeny, in the foothills of the Sperrin mountains in County Londonderry. Founded by Sean and Noreen Murphy, it built a steady local following by keeping things simple — real farm animals, plenty of play, a café and a nature trail, all on one site. School groups, birthday parties and family days filled the summer season for years.

In 2025 the Murphys retired and the premises was sold. New owners took over the property. The farm's official website was still advertising seasonal events and summer opening hours at the time of writing, which suggests the attraction has continued to operate, but it is worth phoning ahead or checking their website to confirm hours and any changes before you make the drive.

The wider setting is reason enough to come this way. The Glenshane Road runs through one of the quieter corners of the Sperrins AONB, and Feeny itself sits at the point where the valley opens out toward the Roe. Combine the farm with a short drive up to the Glenelly Valley or a walk at Gortin Glens Forest Park and you have a full day in a part of Northern Ireland that rewards the effort to get there.
