No tickets, no booking — walk in off the street any day of the week. Centre hours are 9am–6pm Monday to Wednesday, 9am–9pm Thursday and Friday, 9am–6pm Saturday and 1pm–6pm Sunday — individual shops and the coffee stops set their own times within that. There's free wifi across the mall, on-site parking, and a footbridge across the Erne straight into the town centre, so you can park once and do both sides of the river on foot. Hours shift on bank holidays and around Christmas, and the shop line-up is mid-change after the 2025 sale, so check the centre's website before a special trip.

The story

The shopping centre on the island town

Enniskillen is one of the few towns in these islands built on an actual island — the old core sits on a strip of land in the River Erne, with water on both sides and Upper and Lower Lough Erne opening out to the south and north. For centuries the only way in was over the bridges, which is part of why the town grew where it did.

Erneside picks up that same relationship with the water. It opened in 1989 and was extended over the years, and rather than turn its back on the river it runs right along the Erne, with the frontage and its glass rotunda reflected in the water. A footbridge crosses from the centre straight into the town's older streets, and there's a jetty on the river with moorings — so as well as walking or driving in, you can tie up a boat and step off almost at the doors.

It's a working town-centre shopping centre rather than a destination in its own right — high-street names, coffee, somewhere dry to spend an hour. The centre changed hands in late 2025 and a refurbishment has been announced, and a couple of shops have moved out to a newer retail park on the edge of town, so the exact line-up is worth checking before a special trip.

The reason it earns a place on a days-out map is where it sits. Cross the bridge and you're minutes from Enniskillen Castle and its museums, the town's Georgian streets and the water buses out onto Lough Erne — and Castle Coole and the Marble Arch Caves are a short drive beyond. Erneside is the easy, covered, walk-everywhere anchor for all of it.
