More about Larne
Larne is the gateway to one of the world's great coastal drives. The scenic Antrim Coast Road begins here at the Black Arch and runs north through the Glens of Antrim, a feat of 1830s engineering. Guarding the harbour mouth is the Chaine Memorial Tower, built in the round-tower style in memory of James Chaine, who transformed Larne into a major port.
It is still a busy ferry port with crossings to Scotland, and just outside town Carnfunnock Country Park has a hedge maze shaped like Northern Ireland itself. On a clear day you can see across to the Scottish coast.
